COORDINATION BETWEEN PATIENTS AND DOCTORS SHOULD BE PART OF THE MEDICAL CURRICULUM

Lahore: Executive Director Punjab Institute of Neurosciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood has said that there is no substitute for doctors with vast experience in the medical field who have spent most of their lives in the service of suffering humanity. He added that newly arrived young doctors should not miss any opportunity to make full use of the skills and professionalism of their seniors. He said that those doctors are fortunate to be able to treat rich and poor patients regardless of race or color. The prayers are summed up by providing better treatment facilities, Prof. Khalid Mehmood observed.

 These views were expressed by the Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood while addressing a function held on retirement of the first Additional MS PINS, Dr. Shahid Mayo. On this occasion, Prof. Asif Bashir, Prof. Anwar Chaudhry, MS Dr. Ali Razzaq, HoD of Neurology Dr. Mohsin Zaheer, Director Finance Muhammad Arif, Kabir Niazi, Hafiz Suleman, Administrative Doctors, Pharmacists and Nursing Administration were present.

      Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood said that coordination between patients and doctors should be made a part of the medical curriculum as a subject so that a complete system of communication between patients and their doctors may available in the hospital. Dr. Arif Shehzad Bhatti, Dr. Junaid Mirza, Dr. Rana Muhammad Shafiq, Rana Basharat Ali and other speakers appreciated the services of Dr. Shahid Mayo in eloquent words that he continued to perform his duties very hard and diligently and always accepted his duty as a challenge who remained on various positions in his official responsibilities.

      Dr. Shahid Mayo while praising his seniors and juniors said that they have always provided guidance and cooperation through which the patients coming to the Neuro Institute could be provided with the best possible treatment facilities. He said that if there is any need for guidance in the future, his services would be available. At the end of the ceremony, ED PINS Prof. Khalid Mehmood bade farewell to Dr. Shahid Mayo with a bouquet of flowers, shields and best wishes and prayed for his future life and said that Dr. Shahid Mayo has been associated with the health sector for 33 years and his guidance will also be sought in future.
