ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will provide vaccine against covid-19 to all citizens without any cost, said Parliamentary Secretary National Services Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC) Dr Nausheen Hamid on Wednesday. She said that federal cabinet has approved the initial funds to procure the vaccine when it is available in the market. She also confirmed that the vaccine against corona virus will available in the second quarter of the 2021.
She told that Pakistan is testing third phase of Covid-19 vaccine on experiment base which is manufactured by China. She considered it an honor that Pakistan to take part in phase 3 testing of the vaccine although it is difficult one.
While answering to a question about the availability of the vaccine she said it will be available when the trials showed satisfactory results.
She said that initial negotiation started with different companies and we are in booking process but we have to look different factors before placing the order.
She said that COVAX is the platform from where Pakistan is planning to buy the Covid-19 vaccine. Pakistan is negotiating with three companies to place a order of 100 million dollars. She told that second wave of the corona virus in the country is lethal but country has increased its capacity to fight against corona.
She also affirmed government commitments to fight against this virus however she asked the nation to follow SOPs as government alone cannot fight against this.
