ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet has allocated $150 million to procure the coronavirus vaccine in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

It has learnt that federal cabinet has approved the recommendation of CNOC to provide the vaccine to healthcare workers and people above than 65 years of age in first phase.

Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar has informed a day earlier that National Command and Control Center prepared the recommendations after discussing it at length.

Asad Umar told that task force of experts headed by Advisor to PM Dr. Faisal Sultan discussed the issue and finalised the recommendations which were discussed in the meeting of Federal Cabinet.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Dr. Faisal Sultan along with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz briefed the media about the approval by the cabinet.

The Special Assistant on National Health Dr. Faisal Sultan said that government has shortlisted the companies and initiated dialogue to procure the vaccine.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that second wave of corona virus is at peak but opposition is not taking care of the people and deliberately playing with the lives of the people for personal benefits.

He told the media that administration has banned the public gatherings and rallies to protect the lives of people and violators with fixed according to the law of land.

Federal cabinet also approved to reduce the price of Injection Remdesiver, 100 mg from 9,244 to 56,80 which is used in the treatment of coronavirus. Prime Minister Imran Khan, while addressing the meeting urged the nation to take the pandemic seriously as country need serious attitude to contain the spread of Covid-19.

PM Imran Khan issued the direction to procure the vaccine on time at any cost.
