AstraZeneca, a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical company, wants permission from Pakistani authorities to register its vaccine for Corona virus.
AstraZeneca’s data has been submitted to the authorities by a local pharmaceutical company to the DRAP (Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan).
AstraZeneca’s vaccine also known as Oxford vaccine has been approved by the Britians in the late December and it is believed to be much safer, cheaper and efficacious thus having more advantages than other vaccines against the CoVID-19.
Prime Minister’s health assistant, Dr. Faisal Sultan told “Pakistan was hopeful it would receive the first batch of the COVID-19 vaccine from China’s Sinopharm in “early February”.”
Pakistan said “it would purchase 1.2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from Sinopharm in the first official confirmation of a vaccine purchase as the country battles the second wave of infections.”
“We hope to be able to get vaccine doses from Sinopharm in the first quarter of this year, hopefully starting in early February,” Dr Sultan told.
“We are hoping to deploy the vaccine within the first quarter. The 1.1 million doses are just the first phase,” he told.
